Artist Statement

Although I've had some formal training in England and Scotland, I'm basically a self-taught artist. I'm very interested in the female human form and in the relationship of feminine/masculine forces in nature. I try to make my work distinctive, yet I borrow liberally from the artists I admire. I like my work to have an unfinished feel to it, and I strive to capture some of the excitement I remember when making paintings as a child.

- Original art
- Limited edition prints
- Portraits
- Landscapes
- Commission work
- Various media

* Favorite painting: Cezanne - The Large Bathers.
* Favorite art quotes:
"Modern art is what happens when painters stop looking at girls and persuade themselves they have a better idea." (John Ciardi)
"I do not literally paint that table, but the emotion it produces upon me." (Matisse)
